All prisons and jails have Security or Custody levels depending on the inmate’s classification, sentence, and criminal history. Please review the rules and regulations for State - minimum facility.

Sanger B. Powers Correctional Center (SPCC), established in 1982 within the Wisconsin Correctional Center System (WCCS), was named after Sanger B. Powers, Sr., a distinguished figure in the state's and nation's correctional landscape. Serving as a minimum-security state prison, SPCC accommodates 120 adult male inmates, offering a platform for rehabilitation and community reintegration. The facility's inception aimed to modernize correctional infrastructure, replacing the outdated Bunkhouse under the Green Bay Correctional Institution.
SPCC prioritizes preparing inmates for citizenship responsibilities through meaningful work experiences. Upon arrival, inmates are assigned various work tasks to equip them with skills essential for post-release employment. The center facilitates work release programs with local employers, enabling qualified inmates to earn funds for personal obligations while maintaining employment prospects post-release. Supervised by 22 permanent staff members, SPCC offers work release opportunities in Brown, Outagamie, Shawano, and Door counties, benefiting approximately 70 inmates.
Programs at SPCC extend beyond work release initiatives, encompassing community service projects aimed at enhancing inmates' skills and fostering civic engagement. In collaboration with local government agencies and nonprofit organizations, SPCC's community service crew undertakes a variety of projects, contributing positively to the community while imparting valuable skills to inmates.
Additionally, SPCC collaborates with organizations like the Fox Valley Humane Society and the Northeast Wisconsin Leader Dogs Puppy Project, engaging inmates in initiatives such as the REBOUND program, which aids in socializing dogs for adoption, and the training of guide dogs for the blind. In partnership with the Department of Natural Resources, SPCC inmates participate in programs like pheasant chick rearing, supporting youth hunts and hunter education initiatives.
Through these comprehensive programs and partnerships, SPCC not only aims to rehabilitate inmates but also strives to instill a sense of responsibility and contribute positively to society, aligning with the overarching goal of correctional rehabilitation and community reintegration.
SPCC maintains a database of current inmates and their locations within the system. To locate an inmate, begin by using the DOC locator tool, which requires entering the first three letters of the inmate's first and last name, allowing for variations in spelling.
If unable to locate the desired information through free resources, users may opt to use the Arrest Record Search, which requires payment. While this option incurs a small fee, it provides access to the most up-to-date data available.
