Inmate Phone Calls

Can local numbers still lower inmate call costs

my partner is in balch springs tx jail so my number isn't a long distance for him to call me, so how would the InmateAid help in reducing the price per call?

If your number is already local to your partner at Balch Springs Jail, then in most cases, there is little to no savings using a local number service.

If your number is already local to your partner at Balch Springs Jail, then in most cases, there is little to no savings using a local number service.

Here is why:

  • You are already being billed at the local rate, which is usually the lowest available
  • The main purpose of services like InmateAid is to convert long distance calls into local calls

However, there is one exception:
If the facility uses Securus Technologies or a similar provider, sometimes:

  • Even “local” calls are priced unusually high
  • Using a different local number (from another rate center) can occasionally lower the flat rate per call

Bottom line:

  • If your current calls are already inexpensive, you likely will not benefit
  • If you are still being charged high rates per call, there may be a workaround worth testing

If you are unsure, compare:

  • What you are paying now per call
  • Versus what a local-number setup could reduce it to

That will tell you quickly if it is worth it in your situation.
