Do you need real name for InmateAid letters

I understand there is an inmateaid service so that the prisoner can write back to inmateaid and it's uploaded to my account so then my physical address can remain private, for safety. But my question is, do I have to tell my real last name?

No, you do not have to use your real last name when using InmateAid’s letter services.

If you are using the Response Service for privacy:

  • The inmate only sees the InmateAid return address, not your home address
  • You can choose how you sign your letters (first name, nickname, etc.)

Important to understand:

  • Inmates have no access to the website or your account details
  • Your personal information is not shared with them

About payments:

  • If you use a credit or debit card, your real name is tied to the payment on the processing side
  • That information is handled securely and not visible to the inmate

So from a communication standpoint, your identity remains private. You can control how much of your name you share in your letters while still receiving replies safely through your account.
