Good behavior provisions are primarily designed for longer sentences where the incentive to maintain clean conduct over an extended period serves a meaningful purpose. For a 45-day sentence at a county jail, the administrative overhead of calculating and tracking good time credit is rarely applied. The sentence is short enough that most facilities simply count the days from commitment to scheduled release without any formal reduction calculation.

That said, early release does happen at the county level, though not through a formal good behavior mechanism. County jails frequently operate at or near capacity, and when space is needed for incoming inmates with more serious charges or longer sentences, facilities will sometimes release short-sentence inmates ahead of schedule. This is not something that can be predicted or relied upon, but it is common enough that actual release occasionally comes earlier than the scheduled date without any formal notification to family in advance.

For finding out the release date, your husband is genuinely the most direct and reliable source. He was given a sentence at court and should know what date he is scheduled to be released. A phone call or letter asking him directly is the fastest answer.

If you need to verify independently, calling Carbon County Jail in Price, Utah and asking the booking or records department for the projected release date is the next step. Many county jails will confirm a release date for immediate family members over the phone with the inmate's name and booking number. Some also post inmate information, including projected release dates on the county sheriff's website, which is worth checking before calling.
