Finding out a release date after a parole hearing requires going through a few different channels depending on how quickly the system updates and what information is available to you.
The most direct source is your family member themselves. The Judgment and Commitment document, which outlines the full terms of the sentence including any parole conditions and release date, is given to the inmate and their attorney. If you can get a letter to your family member now that you have their location confirmed, asking them to share the outcome of the hearing and any release information is the fastest path.
The attorney who represented your family member at the parole hearing will also have the result. If there is an attorney of record, calling their office is worth doing.
Most state departments of corrections maintain an online inmate locator that updates release dates when they are entered into the system. Search for your state's DOC inmate search tool and look up your family member by name or inmate ID. Parole decisions can take a few days to several weeks to appear in the public-facing system after the hearing takes place.
You can also call the facility directly and ask to speak with the records office or case manager. They can sometimes confirm whether a parole date has been set even if it has not yet appeared online.
In the meantime, getting a letter out now is the right move. You have the address, which is the only thing you need to start that communication going.
