It depends on a few circumstances. The sentencing date would take into consideration the time it will take for three sides to supply information and opinion as to the best sentence for this crime - the offender's criminal history, the money lost (if any) and the number of victims all become the factors with which to determine the sentence to be handed down. The three sides are comprised of the Pre-Sentence Investigator who prepares a Pre-Sentence Report which details the elements of the crime and the recommendation of the sentence from the side of "justice". The prosecution also sends the judge a brief with their recommendation of a sentence. And finally, the defense attorney (for the offender) sends their brief on how the judge should interpret the law on behalf of their client. The judge compiles the information and makes the "judgement" that fits the crime.
