Inmates may write as often as they would like. Stamps are $0.49 and are bought at the commissary along with the envelopes and paper. However, since mail is considered sacred in prison by the institution, they will provide all of these items at no charge to indigent inmates. There is NO reason why an inmate cannot write their loved ones.
