How to send glasses or contacts to inmates

My boyfriend is in Stewart detention center he needs his contact lenses or his glasses. How can I sent him his lenses or glasses ?

At Stewart Detention Center, inmates are generally allowed to have glasses, but there are strict rules about how they are received.

Glasses vs contact lenses:
Glasses are usually the better option. They are easier to maintain and more commonly approved. Contact lenses can be more difficult because they require solution and proper hygiene, and some facilities limit or do not allow them for that reason.

How to send them:
You should not send them without checking first. The best approach is:

  • Call the facility and ask about their policy for eyewear
  • Ask if they allow items to be mailed in or if they must come through medical staff
  • Get the name of a staff member or department handling the request

In many cases, facilities prefer:

  • Glasses to be sent directly from an approved vendor or optometrist
  • Or the inmate to request eyewear through the medical unit

Some facilities will also provide eye exams and basic glasses if needed.

To avoid delays or rejection, always confirm the exact process with the facility before sending anything.
