Setting up calls with your nephew starts with understanding how the prison phone system works and where InmateAid can help.

First the basics. You cannot call your nephew directly. All calls must be initiated by the inmate from inside the facility. Your nephew needs to have money on his phone account to make any calls at all. If his account is empty, no calls can happen regardless of what service you use. InmateAid's Send Money service can help you put funds on his account if needed.

Once he has funds available and your number is on his approved call list, he can call you at the standard rate charged by his facility's phone carrier.

Here is where InmateAid may be able to help further. Our discount phone service works by comparing your current phone number to the number your nephew calls from inside. If we can save you money on the per-minute rate, we will issue you a new local number to use instead, which your nephew then adds to his approved call list. In most cases, this significantly reduces the cost of every call.

If, after reviewing your situation, we determine we cannot save you money, we will issue a full refund and let you know why.

To get started, visit InmateAid's discount calls page, enter your information, and we will find out right away whether we can reduce your rate.
