If you do not know your inmate's release date you can still complete the profile update. Simply enter a placeholder date such as 00-00-0000 in the release date field to move past the requirement. You can update it with the correct date later once you have that information.

How to find the actual release date

For federal inmates the Bureau of Prisons publishes projected release dates in their free online locator at bop.gov/inmateloc. Search by your inmate's name or BOP ID number and the projected release date will appear in the results.

For state inmates each state Department of Corrections maintains its own inmate search tool that typically includes projected release dates. InmateAid's facility directory can point you to the right state search tool if you are unsure where to look.

For county jail inmates release dates are generally shorter and fixed. Calling the facility directly and asking for the booking department is the fastest way to confirm.

How InmateAid uses the release date

When you purchase a service requiring physical mail delivery InmateAid cross-checks the inmate ID and facility information to ensure accurate and on-time delivery on every mailpiece sent. If you are unsure of the release date or ID number and have purchased a service, contact InmateAid at aid@inmateaid.com with your inmate's name and facility and we will locate the correct information for you.
