I just received my surrender paperwork and it states FCI Miami. How do I know if it is for the FCI part of the institution or the satellite camp? Is there a way to find out? Thanks for your help!

You will not know until you get to the FCI. You will report to the FCI Low for processing - short sentences of under 8-10 years with non-violent offenses or criminal history will go to the camp. You will arrive through the main door and they will take you through a metal detector and into the intake area where you will sit for a couple of hours in a white tiled holding cell awaiting processing. They will fingerprint and photograph you and provide you with a red and white ID card that you must keep on you at all times. In most cases you will then be given some paperwork and walked un-escorted to the satellite camp. You will find the officer on duty and they will introduce you to the counselor who will assign you to a bed on J-side or I-side. You will not have your normal issued uniform immediately but the other inmates will offer you some things like shower shoes and toiletries to get through the first couple of days. Wednesday is A & O (Admission and Orientation) where you sit in the visiting room all day and meet all officers and staff from all of the departments. Once you have completed A & O, you will be able to set your visitation list and phone list. You should have someone send money through [Western Union](https://www.inmateaid.com/shop/send-money) (they'll need your ID number and use the city code: FBOP and state code: DC) on the day you get there so that when you are able to go to commissary, you'll have the money to shop. Depending on paperwork and bed space you might spend a few nights in the SHU, do not let it depress you. It might not happen but if it does, just know it is very temporary and they are not "punishing you".
