My son got caught bringing a weapon into jail off work release, what will happen to him?

Hi,my son was at North Central prison in Iowa.He was released on a work release program but now he is back in county jail on new charges.His charge is trying to bring contraband into a correctional facility,weapons. Is there a mandatory sentence for this ? What is he facing ?

He could be facing an additional five years, maybe ten.

He could be facing an additional five years, maybe ten. It will depend on his cooperation and what his record is. Work release is so close to the door, WHAT WAS HE THINKING?!?!?
