Subject: Prison discipline

It depends on what the restriction is for and how the facility structures its disciplinary consequences. Not all restrictions are the same. An inmate can be restricted from specific privileges while others remain intact. Phone access is often one of the first things pulled when someone receives a disciplinary infraction, but it is not automatic in every case. A minor infraction might result in limited commissary access or loss of recreation time without touching phone privileges at all.

Yes, there is a program called RDAP (Residential Drug Abuse Program), that if qualified will cut one year (plus a guaranteed 6 months of halfway house) off the inmate's sentence. There are other opportunities which require substantial assistance in helping authorities prosecute other crimes. Inmate's reward is a sentence reduction (AKA snitching, but it's effective). It might be as soon as a few hours, but it could also take a couple of weeks. There are variables that could make either scenario true, we just don't have enough information. For instance, was the inmate transferred within a similar system? If so, it might be no time at all. If it's a new system, then there is an A & O period that would make it many days before phone lists are able to be updated.

The Inmate Response Letter Service is $1.49 based upon the letter that is received in it's entirety, to be paid by the recipient. If the inmate mails more than four pages, there is another PDF File created which is a separate charge. As long as the letter is four pages or less, then it's a single charge.

If you mail your inmate the Power of Attorney document, he can go to the unit secretary and have it notarized when a notary comes to the institution (usually a couple times per month for this very reason).
