You probably should not send books in advance of the inmate's arrival. Magazines are the same thing, but since they both have a lag time in their delivery you could "time it" if you know the reporting date and order them a month ahead.

there was a time when penthouse stopped publishing nudity (believe it or not). that has changed again recently so there will be no more Penthouse in prison for that reason.

the usual time for magazine subscriptions to get the first issue delivered is about 8-12 weeks depending on the publisher

yes, but the user will need to inform us that there is a change of location so that we can inform the publisher. they are very good at making sure that all of the issues get delivered even when there is a transfer.

You probably have an idea of your inmate's interests and on the magazine page, there is a search function that will narrow down the selection process. Some of the most popular, best sellers include the PUZZLES, WORD FINDERS and every possible COMIC BOOK available.
