If they write you through our mailing address, we accept the letter on your behalf. We scan it into your account and email you to let you knowthat you have a "Letter from Inmate". There is a small fee ($1.49) for the retrieval of the letter.

Some do, like federal has a system called CorrLinks which is a closed system which allows you to email an inmate on a two-hour delay. More and more state prison systems are getting similar services.

All correspondence sent to the inmates has the InmateAid corporate address on it. We do not share your information whatsoever. Inmates do write back to our members via the Letters from Inmates service. The letters are received here and we scan them into your My Account area and then notify you by email that you have inmate mail. The cost to retrieve the letter is $1.49. It is our experience that they read the entire letter. That is what the mail room staff is expected to do. We know that there are a percentage that don't fully follow protocol and scan the letters. But, we advise folks that when they communicate with their inmate, do so mindful that every word you say could come back - so be careful.

Your inmate can write you anytime they want. Even if they do not have any money to buy stamps, there is a program for inmates that have no money on their book, they can ask their counselor and the stamps and writing materials will be provided.

The letters are sent via US Mail. The staff that receives and hands out the mail does not offer a verification. You will know they received it because they will tell you - if gets sent back we will investigate and let you know why it didn't. In those cases, we fix the problem and resend it for you at no charge. The service is very reliable, we've been successfully doing this for many years

We are essentially being your postal address, the inmates writes back to you with our address, we scan it into your account and you can access it through your My Account portal.
