InmateAid was built specifically to support families and loved ones of incarcerated people across every stage of the process. Here is a rundown of what is available.

Letters and photos. Write a letter through InmateAid and we print it, add any photos you want to include, and mail it directly to the facility. Your inmate receives it at mail call like any other piece of mail. If your inmate writes back to our return address, we scan it and post it to your account so you can read it online.

Discount telephone service. InmateAid provides a local phone number that routes to your existing phone. When your inmate dials it through the facility's phone system, the call is billed at local rates instead of long distance rates. The savings per call are significant, particularly for families who talk regularly.

Money transfers. InmateAid can facilitate sending money to your inmate's commissary account, including for international family members who cannot use standard US transfer services like Western Union directly.

Books and magazines. InmateAid has publisher partnerships that allow you to send reading material to your inmate through approved channels. Books and magazines must be sent from approved vendors, and we can help with that process.

Personal Inmate Page. You can set up a profile for your inmate that functions as a central hub for their incarceration. Family and friends can see what is needed and contribute. Think of it as a registry for the people who want to help.

Research and Q&A content. InmateAid maintains one of the largest libraries of correctional system information available, along with the Ask the Inmate section where questions are answered by people with firsthand experience inside.

Directory of family-friendly resources. InmateAid has built out an extensive directory of organizations, contacts, and services that work specifically in fields related to inmate welfare. Whether you need legal aid referrals, reentry support organizations, advocacy groups, mental health resources, or specialized services for families navigating the system, the directory connects you to people and organizations that work in these areas every day.

Everything on the site is designed around one idea: making a very hard situation a little more manageable for the people on the outside.
