My fiance is in Washington County Akron, CO for violating parole. His parole was almost over. What do yall think is going to happen to him?

What happens next depends on what the violation was and how the parole board views it, but there are some common outcomes.

Since he was close to finishing parole, the board will look closely at:

  • Type of violation (technical vs new crime)
  • His overall behavior while on parole
  • Risk to the public

If it was a minor (technical) violation:
Examples: missed meetings, curfew issues, failed check-ins

  • He could be sanctioned with short jail time
  • Parole could be reinstated with stricter conditions
  • He might have to serve some of the remaining time

If it was a serious violation or new charge:

  • Parole could be revoked
  • He may have to serve the remaining balance of his sentence
  • He could face new charges on top of that

Timeline:

  • He will have a parole violation hearing
  • That is where the final decision is made
  • Until then, he may remain in custody

Important point:
Even though he was close to being done, a violation resets how the board looks at him. They are focused on compliance and public safety more than how much time was left.

Bottom line
If the violation was minor, he may get a short sanction and continue parole. If it was more serious, he could end up serving the remainder of his sentence. The hearing will decide which direction it goes.
