Will a 30 day sentence be reduced and release time?

If my loved one gets 30 days will he get out early? And when you are let out what is the time is it at 12 the night before.

For a short sentence like 30 days, most facilities still apply good time credit, but the reduction is usually small.

In general:

  • Many systems require about 85% of the sentence to be served
  • On a 30 day sentence, that typically means serving around 25 to 26 days
  • So he might get out 4 to 5 days early, assuming no disciplinary issues

For very short stays, some facilities may not apply credits the same way, but most do give at least a small reduction.

Release time of day:
Inmates are almost never released at midnight the night before.

Most releases happen:

  • In the early morning hours, often between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM
  • After final processing, paperwork, and property return

Each facility has its own schedule, but early morning release is the most common.

What matters most:

  • Staying out of trouble to keep any good time
  • Making sure release plans are in place

So he likely will not serve the full 30 days, and when he is released, expect it to be in the morning, not at midnight.
