Limestone Correctional Facility, situated on 1,600 acres in Harvest, houses around 2,100 maximum-security adult male inmates. The facility manages farming and cattle operations for the Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC). Historically, Limestone, along with the Julia Tutwiler Prison for Women, was one of two Alabama state prisons where HIV-positive inmates were segregated, purportedly to prevent the spread of the virus and reduce medical costs. However, this practice was deemed a violation of the American Disabilities Act by a federal judge in 2012.

The facility offers various services, including a 90-day reentry program designed to assist inmates in transitioning back into the community upon release. Educational programs at Limestone are provided by Ingram State Technical College and include offerings such as horticulture, welding, industrial maintenance, carpentry, electrical, and drafting and design technology.
