The inmates housed at Montgomery Women's Facility located at 12085 Wares Ferry Rd in Montgomery, AL are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.

“Work Release” is a program of the AL DOC in which selected inmates are allowed gainful employment in the community and will be supervised in a community-based facility when not working. The program is designed to assist inmates preparing for release and to aid them in making the transition from a structured institutional environment and reintegrate back into the community. A Classification Specialist will explain to the inmate how they can qualify for the Work Release Program.
From their earned wages, a percentage of the gross salary will be deducted and paid to the AL DOC to help defray the cost of maintaining them in the work release program. Inmates that participate in the Work Release program agree to pay a fee to cover the cost of transportation to and from their work site. If they are ordered by the courts, you will pay restitution, court cost, and child support. Inmates will be charged a medical co-pay fee for specific medical services rendered. The inmate will be charged a drug testing fee if they test positive for any illegal substances. Inmates will be charged a laundry fee for laundry service on your free-world clothing.
State and federal income taxes and Social Security taxes will also be deducted from their gross paycheck. The remainder of their wages will be deposited in their PMOD account. In some circumstances, depending on their PMOD balance, they may be allowed to send money home.
When inmates first arrive at a work release facility, they will be given a job assignment working at the facility. In the event that a public protest is received (victim, Judge or District Attorney) in regards to your participation in the Work Release Program, and if the protest is honored by the AL DOC, inmate may be returned to a more restrictive facility, or they may remain at the work release facility and not allowed to work in the community. Inmates will not be considered a participant in the program until they are approved and placed in a paying job in the community.

AL DOC - Montgomery Women's Facility is a facility in the Alabama Department of Corrections. The DOC publishes the names of their current inmates and identifies which of their locations the inmate is being held. Your search should start with the first DOC locator to see if your loved one is there. Begin with the first three letters of the offender's first and last name, it does not have to be spelled exactly.
The second box is the InmateAid Inmate Search. This database of inmates is user-generated content for the purpose of accessing and utilizing any or all of the InmateAid services. If you need our assistance creating your own inmate profile to keep in touch, email us at aid@inmateaid.com and we will assist you in locating your inmate.
As a last resort, you might have to pay for that information if we do not have it. The Arrest Record Search will cost you a small amount, but their data is the freshest available and for that reason, they charge to access it.

The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in unprecedented operational challenges for the AL DOC and prison systems across the country, including their ability to provide safe, in-person visitation experiences. While visitations aren’t back to normal just yet, the Alabama Department of Corrections (AL DOC) announced their new video connect services, also referred to as video visitation, and Inbound eMessaging. These new state-wide services are expected to increase lines of communication, improve the ability to provide meaningful visitation experiences and encourage sustained connections between inmates and their families and friends. Inmates will be able to use the video connect kiosks by appointment, scheduled incrementally to allow for safe and personalized experiences. Families and friends can securely send photos to inmates for view via the kiosk after approval by facility staff.
For some families, video connect sessions may provide a more affordable option for those who must travel for in-person visitation. It is important to note that once it is deemed safe to resume more standard facility operations, video connect services will continue to supplement in-person visitation to allow for greater connectivity and resource availability.
The new program is expected to be rolled out to all other ADOC facilities by early December 2020. Inbound eMessaging soon will be active and accessible across the correctional system. Please call 334-215-0756 for further details and updates
