The Appomattox County VA Jail is a medium-security detention center located at 179 Morton Lane
PO Box 366 Appomattox, VA which is operated locally by the Appomattox County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Appomattox County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Appomattox Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

As of March 18, 2020, registration and visitation rules have changed to protect inmates at Appomattox County VA Jail and their loved ones during the COVID-19 outbreak.
