The MCWRC is overseen by the Arkansas Department of Corrections and consists of six community-based programs that supervise both pre-sentenced and sentenced offenders, prioritizing public safety and cost-effective alternatives to incarceration. Working in collaboration with the Department's Work Release Center, located at 727 N County Rd 599 Luxora, AR, and other criminal justice agencies, the division oversees thousands of offenders in the community.
The Mississippi County Work Release Center operates as a minimum security institution accommodating over 120 inmates. Inmates housed here are provided the opportunity to work regular jobs in the surrounding community during the day, returning to the center at the end of their work shifts. Typically, this facility serves as the final step for offenders before their release back into society.
Despite being a work release center, inmates at this facility have access to educational opportunities and substance abuse treatment. The center prioritizes rehabilitation by offering programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) to address addiction issues. Additionally, inmates can participate in a GED program to further their education and enhance their employment prospects.
Operational activities at the Mississippi County Work Release Center include regional maintenance to ensure the facility's upkeep and functionality.
