How to Send Money to an Inmate in Arkansas

How to deposit money to an Arkansas state prison or county jail inmate. Access Corrections and INA online portal, no money orders after May 2025, deposit limits, and what you need first.

If someone you love is locked up in Arkansas, getting money into their account is one of the most direct ways to support them day to day. It covers commissary - food, hygiene, stamps, phone minutes - and keeps the connection alive. But Arkansas changed how this works in 2025: paper money orders for inmate trust accounts are no longer accepted. If you have been mailing money orders to an Arkansas state prison, that option ended after May 31, 2025. All trust account deposits must now go through electronic methods.

Arkansas has two main custody types: the Arkansas Division of Correction (ADC) for state prison sentences, and county jails for pretrial detainees and shorter sentences. There is also a Division of Community Correction for people on supervision. Each has its own deposit path.

State prisons: two electronic providers

If your person is in an Arkansas Division of Correction state prison facility, the state offers two deposit providers. You can use either one.

Access Corrections is the state's primary recommended provider. The state's Inmate Banking page notes that Access Corrections fees are the lowest of any provider and that funds are available to your person within 30 minutes of deposit. Access Corrections can be used:

Online at accesscorrections.com, 24 hours a day, using Mastercard or Visa.

By mobile app - the free Access Corrections app is available on the App Store and Google Play, 24 hours a day.

By phone at 866-345-1884 - bilingual live agents available 24 hours a day. Mastercard and Visa accepted.

By walk-in retail - register at cashpaytoday.com to get a barcode and make cash deposits at participating retail locations including CVS, Dollar General, Family Dollar, 7-Eleven, and Walgreens.

When using Access Corrections, select the correct subscriber to make sure the deposit goes to the right account. For Arkansas state prison (Division of Correction) trust fund deposits, select "ARDOC-ADC." Selecting the wrong subscriber will delay or misdirect the deposit.

The INA online deposit portal is the second option, provided through the Information Network of Arkansas. This portal accepts Visa, Mastercard, and Discover cards. Payroll cards, prepaid cards, and reloadable cards are not accepted through this portal. Processing through INA takes up to two business days - slower than Access Corrections. Deposits through INA are subject to the following limits: minimum $10 for a trust account deposit; minimum $25 for a prepaid phone account; no more than two payments per credit card per week; no more than $100 deposited from a single credit card per day; no more than four payments accepted per inmate per day; and no more than $100 deposited to a single inmate per day. If suspicious deposit activity is suspected, contact ADC Internal Affairs at (870) 267-6218 or ADC.IA@Arkansas.gov.

The automated telephone deposit service (IVR) is also available at (501) 474-6460. To use it, you must first create an account - call (855) 836-3364 and select option 2 for setup assistance.

No more money orders for trust accounts: what changed in 2025

Effective January 1, 2025, money order deposits were eliminated as a deposit method for inmate trust accounts. The no-money-order policy for trust accounts was then extended and finalized: paper money orders are no longer accepted at all after May 31, 2025.

If you previously mailed money orders to an Arkansas state prison for trust account deposits, that method no longer works. All trust account deposits must now be made electronically through Access Corrections or the INA portal.

The ADC number is required for every deposit method. The ADC number is the identification number assigned to every Arkansas state prison inmate. You need it for Access Corrections, the INA portal, and the phone system. If you don't have it, use the ADC inmate search tool on the Arkansas Department of Corrections website. Without the correct ADC number, the deposit cannot reach the right account.

Prepaid phone account deposits: money orders still accepted

The no-money-order rule applies to inmate trust account deposits - not to the prepaid phone account. If you want to put money specifically into the prepaid phone account by money order, that option still exists. You need to obtain an "Inmate Prepaid Telephone Deposit Slip" - ask the inmate to mail you one, or access it on the ADC online services page. Fill out the deposit slip, make the money order payable to the inmate's name and ADC number, and mail it to the address on the deposit slip. Alternatively, prepaid phone deposits can also be made through the online INA portal or by IVR phone.

Community supervision fees and resident deposits

If your person is on community supervision (probation, parole, or community correction) and owes fees, those payments go through different channels:

For community supervision fees, restitution, and court-ordered payments - use CorrectPay at correctpay.com or call (855) 836-3364. CorrectPay is specifically for supervision-related fees, not for general trust fund deposits.

For trust deposits to residents in a community corrections facility - use Access Corrections and select "ARDOC ACC Residents" as the subscriber. For Division of Community Correction supervision fee payments, select "ARDOC ACC - Community Supervision Services."

For help with a Resident ID for community corrections, call (501) 682-9510.

County jails: vendor varies by county

Arkansas has 75 counties, each with its own jail or detention facility operated by the county sheriff. County jails set their own deposit vendors and policies independently of the state prison system. The vendor that works for one county jail may be completely different from another.

Check the specific county sheriff's website or call the jail directly to confirm the current deposit vendor, accepted methods, and any applicable limits. Do not assume any state prison deposit method works for a county jail.

Accounts do not transfer between vendors. If your person moves from a county jail to an ADC state prison - or between county jails using different vendors - the account and balance stay with the original vendor. You set up a new account with the new provider.

Federal custody

If your person is in federal Bureau of Prisons custody at a federal facility - including the FCI Forrest City complex in Arkansas - deposits go through the BOP Trust Fund via Western Union, MoneyGram at retail, or online at bop.gov. You need the eight-digit BOP register number. Do not use Access Corrections or the INA portal for federal inmates.

What to know before you send anything

Get the ADC number first. Every deposit method requires it. Find it through the ADC inmate search on the Arkansas Department of Corrections website.

Money orders no longer work for trust accounts. After May 31, 2025, paper money orders are not accepted for state prison trust account deposits. Use Access Corrections or the INA portal.

Choose the right subscriber on Access Corrections. Select "ARDOC-ADC" for state prison trust deposits. Selecting the wrong subscriber can delay or misdirect the deposit.

INA has strict daily and weekly limits. Max $100/day per credit card, max $100/day to any single inmate, max 2 payments per credit card per week, and max 4 payments per inmate per day. Plan accordingly.

Funds can be applied to debts. Arkansas inmate accounts can be tapped for court costs, fines, restitution, and other obligations before the balance reaches spending money.

What two providers does Arkansas DOC use for inmate deposits?

Access Corrections (fastest - funds available in 30 minutes) and the INA online deposit portal (up to two business days processing). Either can be used for state prison trust account deposits.

How do I use Access Corrections for an Arkansas state prison deposit?

Go to accesscorrections.com, use the mobile app, call 866-345-1884, or deposit cash at a participating retail location (CVS, Dollar General, Family Dollar, 7-Eleven, Walgreens). Select "ARDOC-ADC" as the subscriber for state prison trust deposits.

Maximum four payments to a single inmate per day. Cards accepted: Visa, Mastercard, Discover. Payroll, prepaid, and reloadable cards not accepted.

Can I still use a money order for the prepaid phone account?

Yes. The no-money-order rule applies only to trust account deposits. Prepaid phone account deposits can still be made by money order with an "Inmate Prepaid Telephone Deposit Slip" - ask the inmate to mail you one or access it on the ADC online services page.

What is CorrectPay used for in Arkansas?

CorrectPay handles supervision fees, restitution, and court-ordered payments for people on community supervision - not trust fund deposits. Phone: (855) 836-3364. Website: correctpay.com.

What vendor do Arkansas county jails use?

It varies by county. Each Arkansas county sheriff's office picks its own vendor. Check the specific county sheriff's website or call the jail directly.

How long does a deposit take to process in Arkansas?

Access Corrections: available within 30 minutes. INA online portal: up to two business days.

How do I send money to someone in federal prison in Arkansas?
