The Bernalillo County NM Metropolitan Detention Center is a medium-security detention center located at 100 Deputy Dean Miera Drive SW Albuquerque, NM which is operated locally by the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Bernalillo County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Albuquerque Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

Each piece of inmate mail can contain up to four pages total. All letters must be mailed in a plain white envelope-No security envelopes.Pictures must be photo copies onto plain white paper

Covid Visitation Information

As of March 18, 2020, registration and visitation rules have changed to protect inmates at Bernalillo County NM Metropolitan Detention Center and their loved ones during the COVID-19 outbreak. At this time, there are no in-person visits for family and friends due to the COVID-19 situation. Video visitation is available; details can be found below or call 505-839-8700.
