Carver Co Jail is for County Jail offenders sentenced up to twenty four months.

All prisons and jails have Security or Custody levels depending on the inmate’s classification, sentence, and criminal history. Please review the rules and regulations for County - medium facility.

The Carver Co Jail is a detention center located at 600 East 4th St Chaska, MN which is operated locally by the Carver County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Carver County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Chaska Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals. You can see all the arrest records for Minnesota here.

The Carver County Jail accommodates inmates awaiting bail, arraignment, or sentencing for various offenses ranging from traffic violations to more serious crimes like murder. Inmates are provided with basic amenities such as television and recreation, which are earned privileges, while clothing is provided by the facility. The typical age and gender of inmates are 20- to 24-year-old males. Doors are operated electronically with emergency key override. 60 cameras monitor all movements within the facility 24 hours per day. Jail inmates earn privileges with television access, commissary, and recreation.

Visitation Information

The Jail has limited visitation appointments to connect inmates with their families. Please review the information below and contact (952) 361-1145 with any questions or to make an appointment.

Wednesdays: 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM, 3:30 PM, 6:30 PM, 7:30 PM, 8:30 PM

Saturdays and Sundays: 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM, 3:30 PM

  • Only 5 PEOPLE can visit in the Jail for each visitation time. NO ONE ELSE will be able to visit who is NOT scheduled, including children.
  • There are a limited amount of visits each time posted. The appointments are made on a first-call, first-scheduled basis. If appointments are filled, we will decline requests.
  • Visits are 20-30 minutes, starting at the listed times above.
  • Family and friends will have to call and make an appointment to visit, with only one visit by the same person per day. Call (952) 361-1145 to make a visitation appointment with Jail staff.
  • Inmates could be limited to two visits per week if the demand for visits is great.
  • Visitors must be on the inmate’s pre-approved visitor list to make an appointment to visit.
