The Chesterfield County VA Jail is a medium-security detention center located at 6900 Mimms Drive Chesterfield, VA which is operated locally by the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Chesterfield County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Chesterfield Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

Covid Visitation Information

As of March 18, 2020, registration and visitation rules have changed to protect inmates at Chesterfield County VA Jail and their loved ones during the COVID-19 outbreak. At this time, there are no in-person visits for family and friends due to the COVID-19 situation. Video visitation is available; details can be found below or call 804-748-1476, 804-717-6702.


  • All visits through the video visitation system require the visitor to establish a user account.

Visitation Information

Visitation hours are Monday – Thursday 8:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. All visits are 30 minutes long and a maximum of three people at a time may visit. Visitors are required to show a valid picture ID and an adult must accompany anyone under the age of 18. Out-of-Town Visits-must be pre-approved by a Jail Supervisor. If approved, you must produce a valid picture ID, and there is a four-person maximum. To be pre-approved, please call (804) 748-1829 or (804) 768-7327.
