The Cowlitz Co Jail is a detention center located at 1935 1st Ave S Longview, WA which is operated locally by the Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Cowlitz County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Longview Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. In 2005, the Cowlitz County Jail underwent an expansion to enhance its capacity and services, reaffirming its commitment to the community. Serving as the sole detention center in Cowlitz County, the facility caters to residents from various localities, including Kelso, Castle Rock, Kalama, Woodland, and surrounding smaller communities.

With an average population of approximately 325 residents, the Cowlitz County Jail plays a vital role in ensuring public safety and upholding justice within the region. Visitation Information

Visitation Information and Times

Visiting information - Inmates will be allowed two, 20 minutes, of onsite video visits, per week. The onsite visits will be free. With remote video visitation, inmates will be allowed an unlimited number of visits per week to the extent that appointments are available. The cost of a 20-minute remote visit for friends and family will be $8.99. Video visits will be monitored for compliance with jail rules and all participants will be required to adhere to the rules. Those who violate the rules will be barred from using the system.

All visitation times are subject to the listed visitation times of the inmate you are trying to visit and is also subject to an inmate being available during that visitation time. Check the inmate list now for visitation times. Please double-check the appropriate dates and times so you don't miss your visit.

Visits cannot be set up via phone calls to the jail. You must schedule online or in person at the jail Mon-Fri 8 am-4 pm.

You are responsible for correctly scheduling your visits. The scheduling system DOES NOT account for each inmate’s time out of their cell. All visits must be scheduled 24 hours in advance. All scheduled visits must begin AND end within the inmate’s out time. (All visiting must be scheduled from 09:00 am to 09:00 pm)
