When someone you care about ends up in a state prison, it can be tough to navigate the ins and outs of the system. Communication is important, the prison offers a phone program for outbound calls only, with inmates unable to receive incoming calls. Accepting collect calls can be expensive, sometimes exceeding $10 per call. Click here for discounts on inmate calls, especially if the communication with your inmate is frequent. It's important to remember that all phone calls are recorded, and discussing sensitive legal matters over these lines is discouraged.

While incarcerated, reading is often the best use of time. Please note that books and magazines, puzzles, and word searches ordered for inmates must come directly from the publisher. This policy ensures that the items are new, untampered, and comply with the facility's regulations. Prisons and jails enforce this rule to prevent the introduction of contraband or prohibited materials. By restricting orders to publishers, the facility can better maintain security and control over the content entering the institution. Any books or magazines not received directly from the publisher will be rejected and not delivered to the inmate. You may, however, send letters and selfies to inmates with this easy-to-use app, packages starting at only $8.00.

In May 2001, the Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Center was formed through the consolidation of the Corrigan Correctional Institution, and as of October 6, 2021, the Radgowski facility has been closed due to a reduction in the incarcerated population. Corrigan CI, serving superior courts in Danielson, New London, Norwich, and Windham, confines both pretrial and sentenced offenders, offering a diverse array of programs aimed at rehabilitation and community reintegration.

At the Corrigan Correctional Institution, offenders benefited from an extensive anger management curriculum tailored for those with violent tendencies. The facility also maintained a close monitoring unit to segregate gang-affiliated offenders, offering cultural and gang awareness programs to discourage gang involvement. Additionally, educational and addiction services programming were provided to support offender rehabilitation.

The Corrigan building honors Raymond L. Corrigan, a dedicated Department of Correction employee who achieved the position of Chief of Engineering Services during his 14-year tenure. Similarly, the Radgowski building pays tribute to Stanley J. Radgowski Jr., a former corporal with the Connecticut State Police and an active member of the Montville community.

The consolidation of the two institutions aimed to streamline facility management and enhance fiscal responsibility while maintaining a steadfast commitment to offender rehabilitation and community safety. With a present staffing of 434, the Corrigan Correctional Center continues to uphold these principles, striving to facilitate positive change and successful reintegration for its inmate population.
