The Federal Correctional Institution Satellite Prison Camp, Loretto (FCI Loretto Camp) is a minimum-security United States federal prison for male inmates in Pennsylvania. An adjacent main FCI prison houses low-security male offenders. It is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, a division of the United States Department of Justice.
FCI Loretto is located in southwest Pennsylvania between Altoona and Johnstown, 90 miles east of Pittsburgh.
FCI Loretto was constructed in 1985 on land which was occupied by St. Francis Seminary from the late 1950s to 1979. Fifteen inmates from the federal prison camp at Allenwood, Pennsylvania, assisted in the construction. These inmates included a US Representative involved in the ABSCAM scandal.
Housing: Inmates are housed in dormitories.
Health Services: Sick call, dental call, emergency treatment, medications, chronic care, eyeglasses, physical examinations, health education on infectious diseases, HIV testing, and annual TB testing are provided at FCI Loretto.
Psychology Services: Psychology services include an initial psychological screening, individual and/or group counseling, crisis intervention, psycho-educational classes, self-help, and supportive services, or referral to Health Services for psycho-pharmacological medication. Typical groups include anger management, Smart Recovery, and HIV/AIDS Awareness. Notices of upcoming groups are posted on inmate bulletin boards.
Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP): FCI Loretto Camp does not house a Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP), but referrals can be made to institutions which do offer RDAP. The facility does provide a Drug Abuse Education Course, the Non-Residential Drug Abuse Program (NR-DAP), Alcohol Anonymous (AA), and Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
Education Services: FCI Loretto Camp provides GED and English-as-a-Second Language (ESL) programs. Adult Basic Education is a program that is available for inmates who score lower than the fifth grade level on the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE). Adult Continuing Education (ACE) courses and a parenting program are also available. High school diplomas and post-secondary programs are available through paid correspondence programs.
Advanced Occupational Education: FCI Loretto Camp offers CDL, and both offer Personal Fitness Trainer.
Vocational Training: FCI Loretto Camp offers training in Fiber Optics, Retail Sales, and Customer Service.
Apprenticeship: FCI Loretto Camp offers apprenticeships in Cook and Teacher Aide.
Library Services: Both a leisure and law library are available to inmates at FCI Loretto Camp. The leisure library contains a wide variety of newspapers, magazines, listening and videotapes, and fiction and nonfiction books. There is a wide variety of reference material. The law library is electronic and provides all the required resource material. Inmates are permitted to be in the leisure and law library during their off-duty hours only. Typewriters and a copy machine are also available for inmate use.
Commissary: Inmates are allowed to spend up to $360.00 monthly in the commissary on items such as food, candy, snacks, drinks, clothing, shoes, and electronics (e.g., watches, radios, MP3 players, etc.).
Recreation Services: The recreation facilities at FCI Loretto Camp provide inmates with both indoor and outdoor activities. Hobbycraft activities include fine arts, ceramics, and leatherwork. The outdoor area offers a track area for running or walking. Additional activities include intramural basketball, softball, and volleyball. Special entertainment and games, contests, and holiday activities are also available. The Recreation Department is open seven days a week and accessible to inmates during non-work hours.

Commissary List - In 1930 the Department of Justice authorized and established a Commissary at each Federal institution. The Commissary provides a bank type account for your money & for the procurement of articles not issued regularly as part of the institution administration. Funds deposited by your family, friends, or other sources are stored in your commissary account that we maintain.
Legal Activities - This document outlines the procedures for access to legal reference materials and legal counsel and the opportunities that you will be afforded to prepare legal documents while incarcerated.

We remind all visitors to carefully review our special visiting procedures during the COVID pandemic, and also remind all visitors to observe applicable state and local COVID travel restrictions in planning your visit to the institution.
All visitors will be temperature checked with results annotated at the screening site prior to entrance. All staff working the screening site will be in proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Visitors will be in-processed on a first come first serve basis, adhering to social-distancing requirements. If distancing requirements cannot be met, visitors may be asked to wait outside for systematic in-processing to adhere to social distancing guidelines. Inmates on quarantine or isolation status will not be permitted visits - it will be the visitor's responsibility to check with the institution prior to arrival to ensure the scheduled visit can still take place.
The visiting room is designed to maximize social distancing, with a minimum of six feet between persons. Inmates are permitted two visitors per visit. To ensure equal opportunities, the frequency of visits determines any termination. Appropriate face coverings are mandatory for all inmates and visitors, all visitors wearing a mask will be provided one by the institution, theirs will be secured in the lockers in the lobby. No physical contact, photographs, food, or drink is permitted. A hand hygiene station, including alcohol-based hand sanitizer, is available at all visiting entrances and exits. Orderlies are assigned to each visitation room and will continually sanitize all touch surfaces, restrooms, etc.
