The Elmore Co Jail is a detention center located at 8955 US Hwy 231 Wetumpka, AL which is operated locally by the Elmore County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Elmore County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Wetumpka Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.
New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals. You can see all the arrest records for Alabama here.
The Jail houses a variety of inmates incarcerated for crimes ranging from a violation, misdemeanors, and felonies and operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week. They do not allow any property to be dropped off to any inmate without prior approval. Inmates here are allowed visitation, telephone, commissary, mail, and exercise privileges. Based upon behavior one or more privileges may be taken away without the friends and family being notified.
Commissary privileges: The Elmore County Jail currently contracts with Kimble's Commissary to provide commissary items. Friends and family may come to the Sheriff's Office lobby or go to jailatm.com to add money to an inmate's account. For those choosing to come to the Sheriff's Office lobby, there is a kiosk located in the East corner that will accept cash or credit/debit card. Inmates have a $75.00 spending limit per week.
Mail Privilege: The Elmore County Jail currently accepts postcards only, if a letter is mailed to the jail that letter will be returned to the sender. Inmates may receive two softback books a month, these books must come from a publisher company ie: Amazon.

The visitor(s) will visit with the inmate over a video visitation machine. Inmates are allowed one visit per weekend, on-site at the jail, at no charge to the friends and family.
Friends and family must schedule the visit at least 48 hours prior to the visit at the jail.
Friends and Family may also visit from their cell phone or computer by setting up and account with Securus Technologies.
