Located at 200 Henry St in Macon, GA, Macon TC carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. Macon TC offers diverse educational and vocational programs aimed at equipping offenders for successful reintegration into society and reducing recidivism. Through these initiatives, inmates gain skills and confidence, fostering personal growth and resilience.

The Macon TC was constructed in 1993 and opened in 2008. Its mission is to house offenders in a safe and supportive setting that creates opportunities for positive change, reinforces moral behavior, and facilitates meaningful employment. The ultimate goal is to prepare residents for appropriate community housing and successful citizenship upon their return to the community. Central State Prison serves as the host facility for the center. Housing at the Macon Transitional consists of fifty-two triple-bunk beds, accommodating a total of 156 residents.

Work details at the center include various programs aimed at providing meaningful employment opportunities. Twelve offenders are assigned to the Fleet Long-term Maintenance Program, while six offenders are assigned to the Centers Long-term Maintenance Program for tasks such as food service, sanitation, building maintenance, groundskeeping, laundry, and barbering. The remaining beds are available for offenders assigned to the work release program, totaling 138.

A wide range of programs are offered at the Macon Transitional Center, including academic support such as the General Education Diploma, Adult Basic Education, and College Correspondence Programs. Counseling services encompass individual counseling, job readiness, re-entry skills building, vocational rehabilitation, residence planning, family reintegration, and more. Recreation activities include family days, basketball, horseshoes, volleyball, chess, checkers, and dominos. Religious activities include Bible study, chaplain counseling services, and worship services. Vocational and on-the-job training opportunities are also available in food service, barbershop, laundry, general maintenance, and general clerk duties.

Macon TC maintains a database of current inmates and their locations within the system. To locate an inmate, begin by using the DOC locator tool, which requires entering the first three letters of the inmate's first and last name, allowing for variations in spelling.

If unable to locate the desired information through free resources, users may opt to use the Arrest Record Search, which requires payment. While this option incurs a small fee, it provides access to the most up-to-date data available.

Visitation Information

The first step in the visitation process is to become an approved visitor. To do so, you must first fill out the Visitation Request Form and submit a completed form to the facility where your loved one is incarcerated. Please include a copy of supporting documentation (photo id, marriage license, and birth certificate) along with the application. Consent forms must be notarized before they can be processed. All visitors must apply regardless of age. They must also be mailed to the facility where the offender is currently housed (email forms will not be accepted).

Dress Code - For adults: No tank tops, no mesh or see-through clothing, t-shirts cannot be sleeveless. No chest, shoulders, or stomach exposed. A skirt may not be more than 2 inches above the knee. No stretch pants or shorts may be worn. Only children are permitted to wear shorts. No Contraband is Permitted
