The Harrison County IA Jail is a medium-security detention center located at 111 S 1st St Logansport, IA which is operated locally by the Harrison County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Harrison County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Logansport Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

The jail houses 24 inmates, both male and female. Jail staff performs all necessary functions within the jail, including serving the courts and conducting transports of inmates to and from other jails. The staff consists of 10 certified jailers with at least 2 on duty at all times. Pursuant to Iowa Code Section 356.7 (subsection 1), the Harrison County Jail charges each sentenced inmate $25.00 per day for each day served.

Mail - Letters mailed to inmates must contain the inmate's full name as part of the address. The jail will not accept certain items through the mail. Restricted items include packages, obscene or pornographic materials, personal checks, and any type of food.

Telephone Calls - Most inmates have daily access to telephones in their housing units. Inmates cannot receive incoming telephone calls. After the booking process, all telephone calls by inmates are collect and the financial responsibility of the receiver. The inmate may also purchase a phone card through the jail.

Covid Visitation Information

As of March 18, 2020, registration and visitation rules have changed to protect inmates at Harrison County IA Jail and their loved ones during the COVID-19 outbreak. At this time, there are no in-person visits for family and friends due to the COVID-19 situation. Video visitation is available; details can be found below or call 712-644-2556.

Male Inmates

Tues. or Thurs.- 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (30 min. limit)

A male inmate is allowed a visit of one (1), thirty (30) minute session by you on a Tuesday only --OR-- Thursday only (per individual inmate per week).

Female Inmates

Wednesday - 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (30 min. limit)

  • Only reading material and money may be brought to prisoners. Everything brought for prisoners is subject to inspection. Visitors are not allowed to give anything directly to prisoners.
  • NO ONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18 WILL BE ALLOWED VISITATION UNLESS COURT ORDERED. ANY CHILDREN LEFT IN THE OFFICE LOBBY WILL HAVE TO HAVE ADULT SUPERVISION AT ALL TIMES.
  • Attorneys and ministers will be allowed unlimited access provided the visit is at a reasonable hour.
  • Once visitors leave the jail after visitation, they will not be allowed to return to visit.
  • All visitors will sign the prisoner visitation sheet and complete all information on the sheet

Dress Code - All dress must be conservative in nature.

  • NO see-through clothing (lace, sheer, etc.),
  • NO low cut shirts.

The Harrison County Jail utilizes a video visitation system for regular visits.

Harrison County Jail retains the right to deny a visit when there is reason to believe that the visitor will endanger jail security or control of the jail.
