Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Henderson County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Hendersonville Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Visitation Information

NCIC provides inmate visitations both onsite at the Henderson County Detention Center and remotely. Family and friends must visit NCIC.com and create an account before they will be granted visitation privileges. The visitors MUST upload a Face Photo and Valid ID or DL during the account creation. Visitors will be either approved or disapproved based on the required information submitted.

Remote visitation costs 30 cents ($0.30) per minute, while onsite visits are provided free of charge; however, onsite visits must be scheduled 24 hours in advance through the NCIC.com website. If there are any issues, friends and family can contact NCIC at (800)943-2189.

Each inmate gets one 15 minute onsite visit per week. All visitations must be scheduled through NCIC.com. There is a scheduling kiosk located in the Lobby. Children under the age of 16 do not have to be on the inmate's approved list, however, they must visit with an approved adult. Visits are conducted over the video visitation system. No contact visits will be allowed except from attorneys representing inmates housed in the facility.

Family and friends participating in onsite visitation must be courteous and quiet in the lobby during visitation so that all who are having their visitation can communicate without problems. Family and friends are not to bring exotic, erotic, or nude photos or video to show over the video visitation system. When a visitor comes in for visitation, they should remain where they can hear their name called. A reasonable effort will be made to locate the visitor before moving on to the next person in line. If that visitor comes back and wants to continue their visit, they will be moved to the end of the visitation list.

Families and friends present for visitation are to follow all staff directions. Any incidents of vulgar language, disrespectful behavior, and/or inappropriate comments to staff could result in immediate termination of the visitation. If an incident occurs, detention staff will ask those causing problems to exit the detention center and they will file a report with the jail administrator. Anyone refusing to leave is subject to arrest indefinitely for trespassing and termination of visitation participation. All incidents will be reviewed by the jail administrator for final determination of visitation access and participation.

Ask The Inmate

Ask a former inmate questions at no charge. The inmate answering has spent considerable time in the federal prison system, state and county jails, and in a prison that was run by the private prison entity CCA. Ask your question or browse previous questions in response to comments or further questions of members of the InmateAid community.
