Regional Jail West is for County Jail offenders sentenced to at most twenty four months.

The Henrico County Regional Jail West is a medium-security detention center located at 4301 E Parham Rd Henrico, VA which is operated locally by the Henrico County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Henrico County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Henrico Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

Henrico County Regional Jail West was opened in 1980 and underwent a major expansion in 1996. It is a maximum security facility that houses both pre-trial and post-trial inmates. It is also the headquarters of the Office of the Sheriff, Administrative Services, Court Services and Human Resources.

The Office of the Sheriff - Jail West serves as the Henrico County Sheriff’s Office headquarters, holding the administrative offices for the Sheriff’s Office which include the Sheriff and his command staff. To schedule an appointment to see the Sheriff, Colonel Bruce or any other members of the Sheriff’s Office command staff, call (804) 501-5860 Monday-Friday 8:00 am-4:30 pm.

Jail Security - Deputies assigned to Jail Security and Jail Services maintain the safety and order of the facility. They provide security to the community by preventing jail disturbances or escapes. Jail Security staff move inmates throughout the facility and see to their safety and well being. The Intake & Release Booking section uses state of the art imaging technology to assist in the processing and releasing of inmates.

Jail Services - Jail Services staff provide programs and services to the inmate population to include laundry, recreation, visitation, property control, mail delivery, religious services, a wide range of mental health/substance abuse services and education. These programs are offered through the cooperative effort of staff, community volunteers and outside agencies. The following are examples of the programs offered:

  • GED Preparation and Testing
  • Computer Technology
  • Parenting and Fatherhood classes
  • Substance abuse and relapse prevention
  • Group and individual counseling

Covid Visitation Information

As of March 18, 2020, registration and visitation rules have changed to protect inmates at Henrico County Regional Jail West and their loved ones during the COVID-19 outbreak. At this time, there are no in-person visits for family and friends due to the COVID-19 situation. Video visitation is available; details can be found below or call 804-501-4581.

Visitation reservations may be made in person or by calling the Henrico facility where the inmate is being detained OR you may enter and Online Visitation Request and you will receive a confirmation email to confirm the day and time. Visitors must provide the following information when making reservations

  1. Number and full names of all parties, (4) persons per visit
  2. Date of Birth of all visitors
  3. Inmates full name

Visitation Requests will only be taken through Wednesday November 27th until 4 pm during Thanksgiving Week. Visitation requests will resume on Monday December 2nd.
