Located at 13400 S Pleasant Valley Rd in Kuna, ID, IMSI carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. Opened in November 1989, the Idaho Maximum Security Institution (IMSI) was established to house the state's most disruptive male residents adjacent to the Idaho State Correctional Center and the Correctional Alternative Placement Program. With a capacity of 549 residents, IMSI is situated within a double perimeter fence fortified with razor wire and an electronic detection system. Its population primarily consists of close custody and administrative segregation residents. Additionally, IMSI operates the state Secure Mental Health Facility, which accommodates residents under the sentence of death and those enrolled in the Idaho Security Medical Program (ISMP).
IMSI maintains a database of current inmates and their locations within the system. To locate an inmate, begin by using the DOC locator tool, which requires entering the first three letters of the inmate's first and last name, allowing for variations in spelling.
If unable to locate the desired information through free resources, users may opt to use the Arrest Record Search, which requires payment. While this option incurs a small fee, it provides access to the most up-to-date data available.
