The Jackson Co Jail is a detention center located at 1995 Chanter Rd Jackson, MI which is operated locally by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Jackson County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Jackson Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Telephone Calls - Telephone access is provided to all inmates between the hours of 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. and is an outgoing collect call or Securus inmate calling card. Collect called are charged to your home service. If you do not want to pay for the telephone call, do not accept the operator-assisted request (there is pre-call advising that the telephone call is being routed from a correctional facility). The Jackson County Jail will not receive any incoming telephone calls or messages for inmates!

Calling cards can be purchased 24 hours a day ($10 and $20) through vending machines that are located at both jails. Inmate phone service through Securus. Fifteen-minute calls are $15.75. Visitation Information

Jackson County Jail - Chanter - Visitation

Information - Due to the safety and security of the inmates, no out date will be given to the public (no exceptions). If you would like an inmate's release date, you must receive it directly from the inmate.

Visitors to the Jackson County Jail cannot bring the following items into the jail:

  • Food or drink
  • Bags or purses
  • Cell phones or other recording devices

Create a Securus Online account by going to www.videovisitanywhere.com

  1. Click on the “Sign Up” button to create your account.
    If you are enrolling with your computer, make sure you have a webcam to take a picture of a government issued photo ID (Driver's license, passport, etc.) You will receive an email once your account is approved.
  2. Once approved, log in to your Securus Online account, select “Schedule a Visit”
    and follow the prompts to schedule your remote visit. The video visitation system allows you to schedule times specifically when your loved one is available.
  3. On the day of your scheduled visit, make sure you log in to your account 15 minutes prior to the start time of the visit.

Additional Visitation Information

Visitation hours are 7:30 AM to 10:20 PM. (There may be blocked out times for jail security activities.)

Inmates will still receive one (1) twenty (20) minute visit at their respective jail per week free of charge but it MUST be scheduled 24 hours in advance. If scheduling from home make sure you select “on site” for location.
Entrance onto any Jackson County Office of the Sheriff property, implies consent to search. Visitors are reminded to keep a safe distance from the jail perimeter fence and to refrain from communications to inmates through the fence. All conversations are subject to audio/ video recording.
