Lincoln County NC Detention Center is for County Jail offenders sentenced up to twenty four months.

All prisons and jails have Security or Custody levels depending on the inmate’s classification, sentence, and criminal history. Please review the rules and regulations for County - medium facility.

The Lincoln County NC Detention Center is a detention center located at 700 John Howell Memorial Drive
PO Box 506 Lincoln, NC which is operated locally by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Lincoln County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Lincoln Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals. You can see all the arrest records for North Carolina here.

Inmates are allowed to receive and send mail while in our facility. Mail is received and sent out Monday through Friday (except holidays). A log is kept of all incoming and outgoing mail. All incoming mail must have the sender’s full name and address. If not, will be placed in inmate’s property bin or returned to the sender.

CONTENTS NOT ALLOWED IN MAIL

Perfume, stickers, ribbon, lipstick, etc.

Tape, plastic, glued items, labels, etc.

Inappropriate material or contents.

Magazine, newspapers, puzzles, books or copies of same.

Mail or envelopes with drawings or writings made with crayon or paint.

Photos or copies of photos.

Envelopes, paper, stamps.

Puzzle books or copies of puzzles.

Money Orders or Checks not accepted

Any other items deemed not acceptable by Jail Administrator or Asst. Jail Administrator.

There is a medical office at Lincoln County Detention Center. A nurse is on duty/call at all times. There is a charge for medical. Any medical expense will be deducted from inmate's money account. MEDICAL CARE IS NEVER REFUSED FOR INMATES WHO DO NOT HAVE MONEY. However, the inmate's account will be charged.

The inmate telephones are everyday from 11:00 am —11:45 am; 1:00 pm—2:45 pm; 7:00 pm—9:00 pm. Telephone calls cannot be made during VISITATION, lockdowns, meals, shift changes, and transportation. The inmate can make collect calls at the cost of $1.71 for 1 to 10 minutes. N.C. long distance surcharge $1.85 plus $.50 a minute. Out of state long distance rates $2.85 plus $.50 a minute. Out of country rates are $.95 per minute. Rates are subject to change by the Utility Commission.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office/Detention Center is not responsible for the Inmate phones. Paytel Communications is the carrier. Family and/or friends can contact Paytel at 1-800-729-8355 to set up an account.

Inmates can purchase phone minutes through their commissary account.

Commissary is a service and a privilege we furnish to the inmates. SWANSON Commissary Services offers items such as snacks, personal need items, clothing and stamped envelopes. Orders are placed on the kiosk in the blocks and must be placed by 9:00 pm on Tuesday night. There is a $75.00 spending limit per week. Commissary is distributed to the inmates on Thursday.

Supplemental Kits and clothing items are available during the first 14 days if an inmate has not had funds to order commissary. Supplemental Kits include a variety of food items and stamped envelopes. Clothing items (one pair of underwear and/or one pair of socks) can also be purchased. Additional items or clothing will have to be ordered through commissary.

Visitation Information

Lincoln County NC Detention Center - Visitation

All visitation will be video. No face to face visitation. Securus Video Visitation if a 100% web-based solution that allows you to remotely visit with inmates. You schedule your video visits in advance online according to approved visitation hours. The video visitation system knows the inmate’s availability and only allows you to schedule times when they are available. The inmate is notified of the scheduled visit in advance and will be able to check in at the time of the visit.

Onsite Video Visitation: Saturday and Sunday 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

To schedule on onsite visit, go to Securustech.net/VideoVisitation or call 704-732-9020. Inmates will be allowed one onsite video visitation per week (Sunday – Saturday). Appointments have to be scheduled at least 12 hours in advance.

Inmates will be given a visitation sheet during booking to place 4 names of persons that can visit. Inmates can have up to 4 adult (18 & older) visitors during their visit. This site will allow anyone to schedule an appointment, but only people on the inmates’ visitation list will be allowed to visit in the facility. You will not be allowed to visit if not on the inmate’s visitation list. All onsite visitors must furnish current picture identification at each visit. Anyone less than 18 years is not counted as a visitor but must accompany an adult that is on the approved visitor’s list. Visitors can be denied visiting rights if intoxicated, causes a disturbance, not on the inmate’s visitation list, inappropriate attire, or late for the appointment. Visitors can be revoked permanently by the jail administrator.
