The Monroe County OH Jail is a detention center located at 108 West Court St
PO Box 595 Woodsfield, OH which is operated locally by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Monroe County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Woodsfield Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals. You can see all the arrest records for Ohio here.

The Monroe County Jail is currently classified as a 12 day holding facility by the Ohio Bureau of Adult Detention. We currently house male misdemeanor offenders up to twelve days at a time. Should an offender be sentenced to a term of more than twelve days, Ohio law requires us to transfer the inmate to another facility for a period of 24 hours. At that time the offender can be transferred back into our facility for another 12 day term. Inmate meals are provided three times a day through an agreement with the Monroe County Care Center.

Felony offenders are not permitted to be housed in our facility. We currently have housing contracts with surrounding facilities to house felony inmates and female inmates.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office has implemented a "pay-to-stay" policy. Inmates will be required to reimburse the County of Monroe for the costs incurred while they are incarcerated. These costs include a variable rate based on income, medical expenses, etc. This will generate a savings to the county and allow the allocated budget to be utilized in a more efficient way improving the services provided by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
