Located at 100 Conservation Rd in Tonopah, NV, Tonopah Camp carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. Tonopah Camp offers diverse educational and vocational programs aimed at equipping offenders for successful reintegration into society and reducing recidivism. Through these initiatives, inmates gain skills and confidence, fostering personal growth and resilience.
Established in January 1991, the Tonopah Camp initially served as a female facility before being converted to an all-male facility in September of the same year. Situated approximately 12 miles northeast of Tonopah, Nevada, the camp is dedicated to fire suppression activities under the guidance of the Nevada Division of Forestry.
TCC is equipped with a staff comprising one Correctional Lieutenant, one Correctional Sergeant, one Senior Correctional Officer, eight Correctional Officers, one Correctional Caseworker, and one Retail Storekeeper to ensure smooth operations and inmate supervision.
With a maximum capacity of 152 inmates, Tonopah Conservation Camp focuses primarily on fire suppression efforts facilitated by the Nevada Division of Forestry. Inmates are actively involved in fighting wildfires and participating in various community assignments across the area. Additionally, the camp provides opportunities for inmates to pursue educational goals by preparing for the General Education Development (GED) test or obtaining their High School Diplomas.
