Located at 7000 Sonyea Rd in Sonyea, NY, Groveland CF carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. Groveland CF, situated in Livingston County near the Sonyea community, occupies the former site of a Shaker community. Divided into upper and lower sections by a fence and sally port, the facility houses various amenities. The upper section includes Dorms C-J, the prison hospital, and food service, while the lower section hosts Dorms K and L, along with the commissary, school, church, and recreation yards boasting three softball diamonds, a weight yard, and horseshoe pits.

Initially accommodating female prisoners, Groveland CF now serves as a male facility with a capacity of 1106 inmates. Renowned for its tranquil environment and offering considerable freedom of movement, the prison provides inmates with an array of vocational courses. These courses encompass building and custodial maintenance, computer technologies, flooring, plumbing and heating, welding, printing, horticulture, business, electrical, and small engine repair. Moreover, special counseling services cater to incarcerated veterans, addressing their unique needs and challenges.

Visiting Days: Weekends and Holidays

Visiting Hours: 8:00AM to 3:00PM (Latest arrival time 2:15PM)

Visitation Schedule: Incarcerated individuals with DINs ending in odd numbers will be allowed visitors on odd calendar days. Incarcerated individuals with DINs ending in even numbers will be allowed visitors on even calendar days. See attached schedule.

2024 Visitation Schedule

Maximum Number of Visits per Month: Two (2) visits per month

Maximum Number of Visitors per Visit: Three (3) visitors and one (1) child under the age of five (5) will be allowed to visit. The child must sit on an adult’s lap.

Visiting Room Overcrowding Policy: In the event space considerations require termination of visits, the following procedure will be followed:

  1. When the visiting room reaches capacity, visitor processing will cease until approximately 11:45AM. An announcement will be made for volunteers to leave first.
  2. If there are no volunteers, visitors who arrived first and live within a one hundred (100) mile radius of the facility and have visited for at least two (2) hours will be the next group asked to leave.
  3. Visitors who have visited a minimum of two (2) hours will be terminated on a first in first out basis will be last group to be asked to leave.
