Located at 250 Harris Rd in Bedford Hills, NY, Taconic CF carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. Taconic CF, situated in Westchester County, is a medium-security prison exclusively for female inmates. Inmates have the opportunity to earn an adult basic education and GED while incarcerated. Originally opened in 1901 as the 'New York State Reformatory for Women,' it merged with the 'Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women' in 1933, operating as part of Bedford Hills until 1973 when it became an autonomous medium-security prison.

Taconic Correctional Facility provides educational opportunities for inmates, including college courses offered by local colleges for credit. Vocational training programs in cosmetology, business, painting, and decorating are also available. In addition, the facility offers support services such as Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, substance abuse treatment, and a Female Trauma Recovery program to address inmates' diverse needs.

Visiting Days: Weekends and Holidays

Visiting Hours: 8:30AM to 3:30PM (Latest arrival time 2:30PM)

Visitation Schedule: Weekend and Holiday visitation is open to all incarcerated individuals, with no name or DIN restrictions.

2024 Visitation Schedule

Maximum Number of Visits per Day: One (1) per incarcerated individual

Maximum Number of Visits per Week: Two (2) visits per weekend and one (1) visit per legal holiday

Maximum Number of Visitors per Visit: Three (3) visitors and one (1) child under the age of five (5) will be allowed to visit. The child must sit on an adult’s lap.

Visiting Room Overcrowding Policy: If space considerations require termination of visits, the following procedure will be followed:

1) Request voluntary termination from any visitor first.

2) If no volunteers, those visitors who arrived first will be asked to leave after having visited for a minimum of three (3) hours.

3) After consultation with the area Supervisor, exceptions to early terminations can be made for visitors who have traveled a long distance and do not have a frequent visit pattern.
