Located at 72 Lock Eleven Ln in Comstock, NY, WCF carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. Washington Correctional Facility, situated in Comstock, a hamlet within the Town of Fort Ann, Washington County, New York, is a medium-security correctional facility primarily for males aged 18 and older. The facility provides volunteer and counseling services, along with educational and vocational programs, with a working capacity of 882 as of 2010.

Participating in the Correctional Industries program, Washington CF allows selected inmates to engage in metal furniture manufacturing and work in a regional recycling plant to reduce facility waste through composting biodegradable items. Inmates have access to substance abuse treatment and vocational activities, including training in electrical trades, horticulture, small engine repair, welding, HVAC, building and custodial maintenance, and computers.

Notable inmates who have served time at Washington Correctional Facility include Michael Alig, convicted of manslaughter in 1997, and Joseph Boyajian, convicted of money laundering at Frank Palangi Studios and public intoxication in 2019. Boyajian, recognized as a local KFC franchisee and the original owner of Bogies in Albany, NY, is currently serving a ten-year sentence at the facility.

Visiting Days: Weekends and Holidays

Visiting Hours: 7:30AM to 2:00PM (Latest arrival time 1:00PM)

Special Housing Unit Visiting Days & Hours: Incarcerated individuals in SHU custody are allowed one non-legal visit within a seven (7) day period during regular visitation hours and days. Each week begins on a Sunday and ends on a Saturday.

Visitation Schedule: Weekend visits will be divided into specific segments of the population by the first letter of the last name of the incarcerated individual. Holidays will be open to all incarcerated individuals. See attached schedule.

2024 Visitation Schedule

Maximum Number of Visits per Day: One (1)

Maximum Number of Visitors per Visit: Three (3) visitors and one (1) child under the age of five (5) will be allowed to visit. The child must sit on an adult’s lap.

Visiting Room Overcrowding Policy: If space considerations require termination of visits, the following procedure will be followed:

1) Request voluntary termination from any visitor first.

2) If no volunteers, those visitors who arrived first will be asked to leave.
