The Piatt County Jail is a detention center located at 1216 Raymond Rd Monticello, IL which is operated locally by the Piatt County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Piatt County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Monticello Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. The Piatt County Jail is located in the Public Safety Building, at 1216 Raymond Road in Monticello, Illinois 61856. The Piatt County Jail/Public Safety Building was completed in 2004 and has the capability to house 76 inmates. The Piatt County Jail houses three basic types of persons: those who are awaiting bond or trial; those who have been sentenced to serve to time; and those being held for other agencies.

The Piatt County Public Safety Building is the home of the Piatt County Sheriff’s Office and the Piatt County Jail. The Public Safety Building was opened in 2004 at a cost of approximately $7.3 million. The Public Safety Building replaced the 110 year old building that previously housed the Piatt County Sheriff’s Office and jail. The state-of-the-art facility contains the Sheriff’s personal office, as well as offices for the Chief Deputy, Investigations, Sergeants and patrol deputies. The Piatt County Jail is contained inside the Public Safety Building. The Piatt County Jail has the capability of housing 76 inmates.

Non-local inmates are inmates who were arrested and/or sentenced by a jurisdiction outside of Piatt County and who are serving part or all of their time in the Piatt County Jail under a contractual housing agreement with Piatt County.

RULES FOR VISITORS
Visitors must provide a government photo I.D.

Must be on the inmate's visitor list.

Inmates are allowed two 20 minute visits per Visiting Day.

Visitors under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult age 18 or over.

Children under 5 must be held in the arms of or on the lap of the visiting adult.

Visitors are not allowed physical contact with the inmate.

Turn LEFT at stop sign onto Illinois Route 105 and proceed over the overpass to stop sign
At stop sign, turn RIGHT and travel southbound on Illinois Route 105/Market Street
Proceed on Illinois Route 105/Market Street to the very south end of Monticello to Burnside Drive
Turn RIGHT onto Burnside Drive
Turn LEFT onto Raymond Road and follow all the way to the end.

Via Interstate 72 (from Decatur/Springfield)
Take Interstate 72 east to Exit 164 (Bridge Street Exit – Monticello).
At the stop sign at the end of the off-ramp, turn RIGHT onto Bridge Street
Take Bridge Street east to the stop light (Illinois Route 105/Market Street)
Turn RIGHT onto Illinois Route 105/Market Street
Proceed on Illinois Route 105/Market Street to the very south end of Monticello to Burnside Drive
Turn RIGHT onto Burnside Drive
Turn LEFT onto Raymond Road and follow all the way to the end.

Via Interstate 72 (from Champaign)
Take Interstate 72 west to Exit 166 (Market Street Exit - Monticello)
Turn LEFT at stop sign onto Illinois Route 105 and proceed over the overpass to stop sign
At stop sign, turn RIGHT and travel southbound on Illinois Route 105/Market Street
Proceed on Illinois Route 105/Market Street to the very south end of Monticello to Burnside Drive
Turn RIGHT onto Burnside Drive
Turn LEFT onto Raymond Road and follow all the way to the end.
