The Placer Minimum Security is a detention center located at 11575 D Ave Auburn, CA which is operated locally by the Placer County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Placer County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Auburn Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals. You can see all the arrest records for California here.

Originally constructed as World War II Army warehouses in 1941, the minimum-security barracks served as a component of the Auburn Main Jail. Comprising three housing units—two for male inmates and one for female inmates—the barracks had a combined capacity of 160 inmates. This addition bolstered the overall capacity of the Auburn Main Jail to accommodate a total of 646 inmates, including six beds located in the infirmary. However, on May 31, 2014, the Minimum Security Barracks at the Auburn Jail ceased operations, with inmates subsequently relocated to the South Placer Jail facility.
