The Polk County TN Jail is a detention center located at 164 Industrial Access Cir Benton, TN which is operated locally by the Polk County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Polk County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Benton Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. The Polk County Detention Facility can hold a total population of 154 inmates, 107 males and 47 females. There are five male housing units and four female housing units as well as temporary holding cells in the booking section which are used for the processing and releasing of inmates.

The mission of the Polk County Detention Center is to provide safe and secure confinement for lawfully committed inmates or detainees in compliance with the standards set forth by the State of Tennessee and Tennessee Corrections Institute.

The primary goal for the Detention Facility will be to provide the highest levels of protection to the Citizens of Polk County by detaining lawfully committed inmates within the prescribed ethical and constitutional limits.
