The San Benito County Jail is a low/medium-security detention center located at 710 Flynn Rd Hollister, CA which is operated locally by the San Benito County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. San Benito County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Hollister Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.
New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals. You can see all the arrest records for California here.
The jail consists of two maximum-security modules with a capacity of 27 inmates each and two medium-security modules with a maximum of 35 inmates each. The jail also houses female inmates in two separate housing units. One unit can house up to 10 medium female inmates. One maximum unit can house up to 8 females. San Benito County’s inmate population averages about 100 persons at any given time.
The Inmate Services Program Manager joined efforts with Gavilan Community College to provide academic/vocational education to both sentenced and non sentenced inmates via credentialed instructors.
Additional services are also offered with coordination of volunteers and other community agencies.
