The Scotland Co Jail is a detention center located at 212 Biggs St Laurinburg, NC which is operated locally by the Scotland County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Scotland County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Laurinburg Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

Visitation Information

The Scotland County Detention Center has implemented online visitation services for inmates via the Internet, allowing visits from any location with a high-speed Internet connection and the necessary equipment. For those preferring onsite visits, the Detention Center offers one visit per week for inmates, with visitation available every day, including weekends and holidays. However, onsite visitation times are currently suspended due to Covid restrictions. Visitors are required to adhere to specific visitation rules, including presenting a government-issued photo ID, supervising minors under 18, and wearing appropriate clothing. Certain items like purses, firearms, cell phones, and electronic devices are prohibited within the facility.

Moreover, visitors must wait in designated areas before entry, may be subject to a pat-down search, and must follow instructions from officers and posted guidelines. Failure to comply may result in denied entry or the termination of the visit. Additionally, inmates can lose visitation privileges for misconduct or non-compliance with facility rules.

Visitation Times - Monday thru Sunday 7:30 am-11:30 am / 1:00 pm-4:30 pm / 7:00 pm-9:00 pm (Excluding Holidays)

  • Monday - male inmates with last names beginning with A-E.
  • Tuesday - male inmates with last names beginning with F-J.
  • Wednesday - female inmates.
  • Thursday - male inmates with last names beginning with K-D.
  • Friday's male inmates with last names beginning with P-T.
  • Saturday - male inmates with last names beginning with U-Z.
  • During Superior Court week visitation will not start until after 6:30 pm.
  • Sunday - for those who live more than 100 miles from Scotland County. These visitors should be on the approval list and they must provide ID before the visit.
