Shiawassee Co Jail is for County Jail offenders sentenced up to twenty four months.

The Shiawassee Co Jail is a detention center located at 201 E McArthur St Corunna, MI which is operated locally by the Shiawassee County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Shiawassee County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Corunna Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. INMATE MAIL RULES

  1. There will be no incoming/outgoing mail between inmates while incarcerated in this facility
  2. Mail displaying sexual acts, obscene language, or otherwise offensive content on the envelope will not be allowed either incoming or outgoing.
  3. Incoming mail must be in white envelopes. No stickers, markers, crayons, lipstick marks or other alterations are allowed and will be returned to sender.
  4. Authorized photos are allowed only if printed on computer paper, photo paper is strictly prohibited.
  5. Items not allowed: Cards, colored envelopes, hardcover books, case, checks, letters or enveloped with an unusual odor, and photos showing adult nudity or graphic sexual displays will be DESTROYED.
  6. All letters must be written on white paper
  7. Books, Magazines, Newspapers must come directly from publishers.

  • Minimum 1:00pm – 2:30pm
  • Front Trustee 2:00pm – 3:00pm
  • Back Trustee 10:00am – 11:00am

INMATE VISITATION RULES

  • Inmates must fill out a visitor sheet each time they come to jail
  • If you are not on the visitors list you will not be permitted to visit
  • They are entitled to one 20 minute non contact visit each week during their allotted times
  • No more than two visitors per week,(both visitors must visit at the same time).
  • No property release for inmates on visiting day.
  • Anyone under 17 must be accompanied by an adult 21years of age or older that is on the inmate’s visitor list.
  • Visitors shall not wear inappropriate clothing. If the staff deems inappropriate visitation will be denied.
  • Visitors who violate visitation rules may be permanently banned from the facility
