All visitors must be here 20 minutes prior to their visit time to sign in if late the visit will be denied.

VISITING POLICY

• All visitors must arrive 20 minutes prior to their visit time to sign in if late the visit will be denied.
• ALL visitors will subject to a security check. (This will be at least a metal detector. Pat downs may be required and is at the discretion of the staff.
• Vehicles and personnel effects may be subjected to search upon
 entering the jail security area.
• Do not bring anything on the non-permissible list into visit
• Anyone who brings in any form of "contraband" into the St. Tammany Parish Jail will be, at the discretion of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office, prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
• Any visitor who is suspected to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be denied and either the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office or the Covington Police Department may be notified.
• NO drinks or food are allowed in the visitation area except.
 Baby bottles or "sippy" cups will be the only exception. Drinks and snacks may be purchased at the visitation vending machines.
• Visitors will follow the rules and directions of the deputies. 
Failure to do so will result in the visit being terminated.
 Visitors who fail to follow the directions of the visiting staff may be barred
 either temporally or permanently for future visits.

• ALL visitors will depart the visitation lobby area once they are informed that the visit has ended.
 No other access to the facility will be granted from the Visitation area.

• It is the inmate's responsibility to inform visitors of any time or date changes for a visit.

DRESS CODE - The following apparel is considered inappropriate and shall result in the denial of visits:

• Clothing that is similar in appearance to the clothing worn by the facility’s offender population
• Clothing that is similar in appearance to the clothing worn by correctional officers, (i.e. Blue B.D.U.’s/511’s, tan shirts, etc.)
• Transparent clothing
• Swimming suits or any portion of a swimsuit
• Skirts, shorts, skorts, culottes and dresses shorter that one inch above the knee cap or those with revealing slits
• Strapless, tube and halter tops, tank tops and strapless dresses
• Tops that expose the midriff
• Blouses, shirts and dresses that are low cut
• Spandex, Lycra or spandex-like athletic pants, aerobic/exercise tights or leotards
• Exposed underwear
• Clothing with revealing holes or tears one inch above the knee cap (At the discretion of the visitation staff, clothing with holes or tears maybe allowed if there is non-transparent material underneath)
• Clothing or accessories with obscene or profane writing, images or pictures
• Gang or club-related clothing or insignia indicative of gang affiliation
• Hats or baseball caps (with the exception of religious headwear and chemo treatment headwear.
• All visitors must wear shoes. House slippers and shower shoes are not allowed. Footwear must remain on feet at all times. These restrictions apply equally to men, women and children.

NON-PERMISSIBLE ITEMS LIST - The following items are not allowed to be brought into the facility during visitation:

• Cell phones
• Gaming devices
• Any audio/visual recording/playing device
• Electronic tablet devices
• Electronic Devices of any type
• Bags of any kind (this includes purses, diaper bags, book bags, etc.)
• Tobacco products
• Any flame producing device (including lighters)
• Any vaping device
• Strollers
• Hats (with the exception of religious headwear and chemo treatment headwear.
• Food or drink from outside the facility regardless if it is opened or sealed (Baby bottles or "sippy" cups will be the only exception.)
• Weapons of any kind (including firearms, knives, tasers or stun guns)
• Any type of chemical spray (pepper spray)
• Limit of three diapers
• Any other items deemed a possible security risk to the facility by the visitation staff

NOTE: All visitors are subject to search by correctional personnel at any time while on the premises.

TYPES OF VISITATION

There are four categories of visitation.

• Regular Visit
• Inmate Worker Visit (formerly known as trustee visit)
• Special Visits
• Professional Visits

Regular Visit

• You must check in at the visitation officer's desk no later than 20 minutes before the assigned visit time
• Visitors that are late by even a minute will be turned away
• Normal visits are 30 minutes in length. (This may be subject to change without notice.)
• Security, weather and other issues may cause a visit to be canceled.
• Any visitor who leaves the visitation lobby without informing the visitation staff will be denied re-entry once signed in.
• Visitors are required to have a current I.D. or driver’s license
(Passports for out of country visitors will be acceptable if current.
Children 15 to 18 will have either a school I.D. or state I.D./driver’s license.)
• No one under the age of 17 will be allowed to visit without a person 18 or older escorting them.
• Only two visitors are allowed at a time.
• Each person will get no more than
15 minutes for a total of 30 minutes.
(If more than two people wish to visit
It will be handled first come/first serve.
If one party wishes to give up their time, they may do so. Visitation staff will not get involved other than to end the visit if it becomes a disturbance.)
• If the incarcerated offender does not wish to visit any portion of the persons visiting, the visit will be canceled with no makeup.
• Children under the age of 5 will not count, however, only one child per adult.
(If any child is not attended to or is allowed to run around the visitation lobby the responsible parties will be required to leave. Future visit may be denied if the responsible adult does not comply with the staff.)

Inmate Worker Visit

• You must check-in at the visitation officer's desk no later than 20 minutes before the assigned visit time
• Visitors that are late by even a minute will be turned away Normal visits are 60 minutes in length. (This may be subject to change without notice.)
• Security, weather and other issues may cause a visit to be canceled.
• Any visitor who leaves the visitation area without informing the visit staff
will be denied re-entry once signed in.
• Visitors are required to have a current I.D. or driver’s license.
(Passports for out of country visitors will be acceptable if current.
Children 15 to 18 will have either a school I.D. or state I.D./driver’s license.)
• No one under the age of 17 will be allowed to visit without a person 18 or older escorting them.
• Only three visitors are allowed at each visit.
• Offender submits a list to visit. The offender must submit changes every
three months.
• If the incarcerated offender does not wish to visit any portion of the persons visiting, the visit will be canceled with no makeup.
• Children shall be supervised by responsible adults. (If any child is not attended to or is allowed to run around the visitation area the responsible parties will be required to leave. Future visit may be denied if the responsible adult does not comply with the staff.)

Special Visits

• To be granted a Special Visit the visitor must
Live outside 75-mile radius of Covington, Louisiana
• Special Visits are normally conducted on Wednesdays between 3:30 and 4:15 p.m.
• Any exceptions must be approved by the Warden or his designee.
• Must be requested at least one week prior to the requested day.
• Visitors must provide a valid I.D./driver’s license
• Visitors outside the state of Louisiana, a current utility bill with the same address the I.D.'s
must be presented.For visitors outside the state of Louisiana, a valid airline ticket showing a departure from the state that the I.D./driver’s license is from is also suitable for that week’s visit.
• Special Visits will only be granted once a month.
• Special visits will not be granted if the visitor has seen the offender on a regular visit that same week.
• Special visitors may not visit again during the same week.
• All visitation policies and procedures will be followed.
• To schedule a Special Visit, please call the visitation staff from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. (CST) Tuesday through Friday. They can only be contacted 985-276-1047).

Professional Visits

• Professional Visits include
attorneys, clergy and any other professionals that have a professional need to see an offender
• Appointments are encouraged to be made
• Professionals can contact the visitation department at 985-276-1047
for instructions.
• Appointments require 24 hours minimum
• Professional visits are normally conducted
Monday through Friday
8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
• After hours and weekends can be arranged with sufficient prior notice.
