Allred Unit is a state prison operated by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) The facility is situated on 320 acres located in Wichita County TX. Allred has and employs approximately 939 people. Allred Unit is a maximum security facility with the capacity to house about 3,725 adult male prisoners - making it the distinction of being one of the largest of it's kind.

Inmates here are housed in four distinct categories, general population, safekeeping, administrative segregation and the high-security expansion cell block. Educational opportunities for inmates at Allred Unit include adult basic education and GED classes, literacy courses, and vocational training in automotive air conditioning repair, masonry/bricklaying, electrical, and small engine repair. Offenders can participate in various agricultural operations which include working in a garden located at the facility. This Unit offers on-site medical services which include an infirmary, dental treatment and mental health services.

No cellphones, you will be searched before visiting. NO personal belongings. Persons under probation, parole, or other community corrections supervision must obtain the permission of both their individual supervising officer and the superintendent prior to a visit. Such visitation is not normally approved.

If the visitor is under the age of 18 and is a family member of the inmate, they must be accompanied by an adult family member or guardian to include a member of the inmate's extended family. If the visitor is under the age of 18 and is not a family member of the inmate, the minor visitor must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
